How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6871922 / WD19X25278 Dishwasher Diverter Valve Assembly

Rubber boot of diverted valve had a small hole. Took diverted valve out and noticed the circulation pump had black dust in it. Replaced diverted valve and circulation pump assembly. Working well now 

Followed the Appliance Parts Pros instructional video to remove and replace the assembly. 

The hose between the diverter valve and the main pump had split and was leaking profusely. One half of the hose is molded onto the diverter valve assembly so unfortunately you cannot just replace the hose, but replacing the diverter valve assembly is quite simple once you pull the dishwasher out from the counter, tilt it forward and remove the metal tray underneath. 

The kit from APP was all I needed. It came with the replacement clamps that I needed once I removed the non-reusable clamps in the kit. Three screws hold the diverter in place and after you remove the two hose clamps it comes right off. The repair was fast under 15 minutes, it was getting the dishwasher out of and back in our cabinet that was the challenge. The builder left very little clearance for the washer itself. 

I took my time with the new part and re-assembled everything slowly. 

I removed the dishwasher and discovered the rubber connector on the diverted valve was torn and leaking. I watched your repair video and replaced the part. Easy.

This time, our dishwasher was leaving the dishes wet and not heating, even with heat button on. After watching several videos and scouring the internet for possible causes, we narrowed it down to the diverter valve assembly. It had a leak and was allowing moisture to escape, which threw off the sensor for the dishwasher to know to heat. After double checking the heater, etc, with a meter, we felt this was the cause. So, we were able to fix it ourselves, and it's back to heating up the water for the dishes. (We don't usually use the heat button for end of cycle, but the machine still needs to heat the water for the dishwasher process.) 

One night I found a large amount of water in front of my GE dishwasher. After removing my dishwasher, I quickly found the problem - a disintegrated connector tube/hose on the diverter valve. Fortunately, replacing the diverter valve was a straight-forward easy repair. 

I was out on a social evening with my friends when I got a text saying "the dishwasher is leaking." I immediately concluded that the gaskets were likely worn or damaged, I ordered a full set of them and, with much swearing and the appropriate blood sacrifice, I replaced them. However, upon testing it appeared that the leak was not resolved. However, this time it occurred to me that I could remove the dishwasher from under the counter and observe the leak directly, which lead me to see that the outlet hose from the diverter valve assembly had been damaged somehow and that the whole assembly would have to be replaced. My recent experience in replacing the gaskets made the disassembly and reassembly process easier than it had been the first time and it actually went fairly smoothly. And, since I knew what the actual problem was this time, the floor underneath the dishwasher has remained dry ever since. 

Performed a quick assessment and saw that water was leaking from the diverter valve. A quick purchase of a new valve (received in 2 days) and a few references to the install video, and the dishwasher was ready for use again in 15-20 minutes.
