I was opening the dishwasher and heard a bang and the door got very heavy. My first thought was to come to this site and order some springs. After reading other reviews, about the springs not being the problem, I figure I would pull it out and look at the problem. It was a broken hinge arm link. By the way my dishwasher has 2 links, 2 cables, and 2 springs. There is one set on each side. I watched the video. I pulled the dishwasher out about 8 inches simply by removing the two screws that secure it to the counter. I did not take off the kick plate as suggested. I also knew that I had about 20 inches of power and water lines so I didn't remove them either. I took care not to damage the linoleum floor when pulling it out. I am lazy; what can I say! I ordered 2 cables, which include the hinge arm link and 2 hing arm links. I was not sure if the cables came with the hinge arm links or if the hinge arm links would fit the current cables. As it turned out. all I needed to replace was the hinge arm links. I used needle nose Vise Grips to hold the cable as I had to work the hinge arm link onto the cable. I did inspect the cable for any wear or damage and there wasn't any. I then checked my work, pushed the dishwasher back in and secured it back to the counter.
