How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4368163 / WD01X10393 Door Cable

I ordered two new springs which arrived promptly. When I pulled the dishwasher out I found that the springs were not broken but the small plastic wheel was broken and the spring cable was damaged. Sent the original springs back and ordered the replacement parts I needed and some spares. Also ordered a new silverware basket. Everything working now! Great company to deal with. Highly recommend them! 

Pulled out dishwasher from cabinet/counter. Saw that the left side of the dishwasher door pully and other mechanisms involved in opening/closing the door were damaged and broken. Went online and searched for schematics for this model dishwasher. Found the parts we needed and then searched online for appliance vendors that have these parts in stock. Ordered parts on line and paid a little extra to expedite shipping of parts. The hubby replaced the broken/damaged parts with the new parts. Dishwasher door operates as it should. 

On line video was very helpful. Watched twice, then completed the job in about min. 

Found the part on AppliancePartsPros.com. Placed our order and received it promptly. We used the instructional video to replace the broken cable. It made the job so easy! This is one fantastic website that we would always go to first for any repair needs. 

Replaced the leader from the door to the spring. This is an easy fix. 

Disconnected the water supply,pulled Dushwasher out from the counter, found broken cable that.connected to the spring. I went online, found the kart on the diagram and ordered the parts. Well,the first two times they sent the wrong cable but the people I spoke to were very apologetic and helpful. Once I had the right parts, the repair was less than ten minutes 

Replaced the door cable between the left door spring and the door hinge. 

Replacement the cable was not hard. I had to unscrew the protective plate at the bottom of the machine. Then, I removed the screws attaching the machine to the counter and pooled out the machine. When, machine was out, the only other trick was to remove the pulley in order to remove the broken cable and install a new one. 

After removing the kick shield and side mounting screws, pulled out dishwasher far enough to access cables. Had enough slack in all utility connections to do this without disconnecting any. Had ordered (2) cables as we had to replace both sides. OEM cables had (3) holes and current replacement has (2). Made it very easy to adjust door tension this way. Removed screws in pulleys on both sides, removed pulleys, and ran new cables Takes nut driver to remove screws. Replaced pulleys, hooked up cables, and tested tension on door. Slid dishwasher back in, replaced side mounting screws and done. 

Not a hard fix. The hardest part is removing the plastic wheel so you can slide the new cable under the wheel, then reattaching the wheel. Not counting the time it too to slide the dishwasher out and back in and some minor cleanup the fix took about ten minutes
