Was able to read here how others figured out the pulley removal (just unscrew the screw with 8mm wrench) and pop out the holder from behind, and reassemble with the new door cable. My old cable did not have the nylon fob to connect the door to the cable to the spring, and that little nylon piece should make all the difference. Working fine now. I'm sure I saved a fortune from a service call.
