How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4297334 / WE14M124 Drum Support Bearing

Replaced them easily !!! 

I had to replace the front top inner support along with four guide bushings 

Plastic glide surfaces were worn through. Upper support was ‘paper thin’ in spots too. I replaced the sleeve as a precaution, since the drum obviously wasn’t spinning squarely for a while. Upon tear down, the sleeve could have been reused but what the heck. If you do replace the sleeve, ORDER the o-ring keeper too, else you’ll be going to a box box store at 8:30.... Be sure to have a vacuum to clean out the insides if all the lint. There will be lint. New felt is a must too. If the glides/support are trash, the felt is right behind. On the inside surface of the front panel, the lower ducting is bonded to it with double side foam tape. Airflow, heat plus time...good thing I had aluminum tape to reseal it all before reassembly. Don’t use duct tape. It won’t take the heat. For all this, I did not replace the belt. Upon reflection, since I was in there, I should have done it anyway. Next time? 

Ordered the part and replaced it 

Took the bad parts off. Put the new ones on. Everything is good now. Didn't have to pay that stupid fee for someone just to look at the dryer. 

Replaced door support bearings and slides 

Bearing slides were so worn there were only pieces left. The resulting gap had caused some clothes to get stuck in the groove. A baby safety pin (with the thick plastic head) got wedged in the gap and made the problem worse by wearing the plastic of the drum support bearing out. Had I investigated earlier when it first started squeaking and clothes occasionally got jammed, I probably would have only had to replace the slides. But because we waited, we had to replace the support bearing too. Extremely simple repair, and even though I was intimidated at first (probably why I waited so long to check into it) the videos on this site and others were the only resource I needed to get this job done. Drying is currently purring like a kitten and I've ran 15+ loads through it since the repair! 

After finding and watching a Youtube video discovering what the issue was, I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros and replaced the worn out part withing 5 minutes. Thanks for the fast processing and delivery. 

Took the top and front of dryer off as per the instructional video. Easy, only 7 screws and about 20 minutes. It actually took more time to unplug and move to my work space in the garage than to disassemble. It was easy to see where the damage was. Got online and ordered new front drum bearing, slides, and felt. I even used the online chat because I could not find the felt right away like the other parts. In just minutes the representative sent me a link to the part number I was looking for. I didn’t even know what to call it, I just described what it was and he found it. The parts came as promised. The extra $ for two day shipping was well worth it. Everything installed by hand. Put it back together. Easy job. GE quality parts. Saved money. My father in law just spent more than double of my cost at a repair shop for a similar issue. I pulled mine apart Sunday and was back together on Wednesday. Good luck. 

I went on the internet after a washer and dryer guy came out and said that he did not want to do the job, because it could have been a few things that were wrong. I put in the model number of the dryer and watch some videos of this type of dryer and which parts would cause the squeaking and the rubbing. I opened up the dryer and saw that the top of the plastic support bearing was cracked and the slides were worn down when i took it off.
