The Drum Support Bearing is an OEM part for GE dryers. It is designed to support the rear of the dryer drum, ensuring smooth and stable rotation during the drying cycle. This bearing reduces friction and wear on the drum and motor, contributing to efficient and quiet dryer operation.

You should replace the drum support bearing if it becomes worn out or damaged. Causes of a bad drum support bearing can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, lack of lubrication, or debris accumulation. A faulty bearing can lead to increased friction and noise, affecting the dryer's performance.

Symptoms of a bad drum support bearing include:

  • Squeaking or grinding noises during the drying cycle
  • The dryer drum not rotating smoothly or being off-balance
  • Increased drying times or uneven drying of clothes
  • Visible wear or damage to the bearing

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Phillip, You need to check the top bearing WE03X25079 and drum slides WE03X37318 and WE03X37317 for distortion and excessive wear. If the bearing is distorted or the slides worn excessively a gap between the drum and the front duct assembly will develop and articles can/will get stuck in the gap. If all's OK then you'll need to access and check the heater assembly and rear cabinet for distortion and heat damage.
