How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2024076 / WB24T10029 Range Surface Burner Control Switch

I ordered a GE Infinite Control Switch to replace the bad switch. I should have called the Pros first because my GE stove schematic does not distinguish between the switch for large or small burners. I ordered a small burner control. I called the Pros and they gave me the model number for the large burner. My part came one day after I ordered. Installation video a great help. Customer service excellent. Website easy to use. The music for phone call holding is even relaxing. The Pros are great! 

The video gave me the confidence to make this repair. It took me 20 minutes and now the stove works fine. Thanks! 

It was so easy! I went to appliance parts pros and looked up the part, received it in less than 2 days and it was an easy plug in part. We spent $21.00 on part and saved over $100.00+ on a repairman! 

Ordered new dial element but in the meantime the control panel failed for the oven also. 

With the two new switches it was an easy fix to get them replaced and working as intended. We spent longer cleaning behind the stove than to install the parts... Satisfied customer. :) 

Replaced the broken surface burner control switch. Unplug the range. Remove two screws on the front control panel. Remove six screws on back of the range to expose the control switches. Remove the wires from the broken switch and install them on the new switch. Replace all of the screws and you are done! 

The burner would not shut off. I had to kill the breaker. Frankly, I did not know for sure what it was but it had a strong electrical smell coming from the control knob area. If it weren't for the tutorial video on your website that might have cost me well over $300. The part cost $ and I did it myself! 

Propping up the cooking surface of this GE slide in stove, I removed the 3 screws holding on the front control panel at the top and--opening the oven door--removed the 6 screws holding it at the bottom. Slid the panel out to access the switch. With the old switch still in place, I removed the wires one by one and attached each to the new switch. Then removed the screws holding the old switch in place and screwed the new switch to the panel. Repositioned the control panel back into place and secured the screws. Reattached the original knob to the new switch. 

First I tried swapping similar sized burner coils but the same position still didn't work on Low. Since I was ordering a bake element for the oven anyway I threw in the control switch after watching the video on how to replace it. Looked easy enough, and it was. Burner works fine now. Kudos to the makers of the switch replacement video! 

Turned the circuit breaker off. Removed 2 each Phillips screws from under the control panel. Removed 2 each 1/4 inch head screws from behind the panel. Removed knob and 2 each Phillips screws from burner control. Pull the panel up and forward to expose the burner control. Took a picture of the wires so that I knew what went where. Pulled one wire off at a time and placed on the new control. Put back in place, added screws, and knob. Put the control panel back in place, and fastened with the screws previously removed.Turn the power back on and checked burner control and it worked like a charm. Cleaned behind the stove and pushed back in place.
