How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2063068 / WR13X10020 Lower Door Hinge Kit

This is the second time we have ordered the same part. A few years ago the same thing happened on our kitchen refrigerator/freezer. We successfully repaired both appliances ourselves and are very pleased with the excellent service we received from AppliancePartsPros. Replaced door cams and shims. Site showing other parts purchased by others along with the part at which I was looking, was very helpful. Very quick delivery of parts. 

We purchased the door stop and lower door hinge kit. It worked as planned Should have ordered one more piece that sits against the door stop but it worked ok. May not last as long not having the support against the door stop. Service was fast and easy. The rep was pleasant and helpful. I will def use this outlet again for other repairs. 

Ordered hinge replacement/received it pronto/door actually fell off/parts were exactly what I needed 

Replaced lower door hinge as both upper and lower cams were broken. The shim under the cam on the underside of the door was also broken but no replacement came in the kit, had to make my own out of a piece of plastic. 

I called with my problem on Sunday 9/23 and the hinge/cam assembly arrived the morning of 9/25 - which was outstanding. In the meantime I watched your video on replacing lower door hinge assembly. I followed the instructions and found that the 3/8" hex nuts on the lower door hinge assembly had only about 3/32" available for the socket to grab, which took a while to accomplish removal of these bolts. Once removed, reassembly was going smoothly, but the hole in the cam riser was difficult to align with the hole in the bottom of the door. To remedy this situation, I set up a pair of saw horses, removed the door and about 10 minutes later everything was back together and working. I forgot to mention, that I also ordered a "coil cleaning" brush - which is truly outstanding and simplifies cleaning the coils under the refrigerator.I am most pleased with the COMPLETE service I received from AppliancePartsPros.com. 

Replaced bottom hinge 

I ordered a hinge closing kit. 

Replaced lower door hinge kit. Old cam had ground away. Easy enough in theory. In practice the two gaskets fell out when the old hinge was removed. One of the gaskets was worn away making it harder to see how they were originally installed. Took some guessing and failed attempts. It would have been easier and less confusing had I left the door closed and ‘blocked’ up rather than wide open and held in place with blocks as shown in the instruction video. Now I could do the repair in less than 15 minutes. The good news is that the kit fixed the problem and my wife is thrilled. 

Unplugged the refrigerator. Remove the contents of the freezer. Removed shelves and bottom drawer. Removed the bulb shield and bulb. Removed the back panel. Placed towels on floor of freezer. Used hair dryer to melt the ice on the coils (this takes a while). Removed and replaced defrost heater and bracket assembly. Reinstalled everything and plugged in refrigerator
