How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

We checked AppliancePartsPros.com to see if a new bake element was available for our very elderly GE oven, and it was! We ordered a new bake element on Saturday night and received it, much to our amazement, on Tuesday morning. We installed it immediately and were able to bake our New Year's Eve dinner instead of having scrambled eggs. Wonderful service! 

Ordered a replacement on 12/30/19 and to my surprise it was delivered on 12/31/19 no extra shipping cost. Installed in 10 minutes.

It's an older wall oven from the '80s but I found the element on Appliance Parts Pro.com with the oven's model number. It fit perfectly and I got a tip to make sure the connecting wires in the oven didn't retract into the oven. I tied a string on each wire before I disconnected them so I could pull them forward and screw in the new connectors. Worked great. Very pleased. 

Quick delivery...thank you. Wow, much appreciated. Just days before Christmas. Easy replacement. Turn off electrical power to oven...most important. Remove two screws, unhook old element, hook new element, replace screws. Turn on the power. Done. Easy. Used one screwdriver. 

By using the websites online appliance model number search function and excellent schematic, I bought the right parts. The parts were shipped via APO to me in Banja Luka. Thirty minutes later, both elements were replaced and it works great. One single nut driver was used. 

It was a simple repair that only required the removal/replacement of 4 screws. The first two sheet-metal type screws required a 1/4" nut driver and were easy to remove. The second pair of screws that fastened the electrical wires to the element itself required a pair of "Vice-Grip" pliers to remove; due to the fact that the last person who replaced the element used improper sheet metal style screws. NOTE: On the new element, the manufacturer furnishes the proper machine type screws for attaching the electrical wires; they are taped to the element itself. These were easy to replace and only required a Philips screwdriver. 

Took out the old one, installed the new one. 

Removed broken element. Note: Save the screws that attach the element to the oven. The replacement element comes with screws to attached the element to the wires. Ordered part from AppliancePartsPros.com Note: Their customer service dept was extremely helpful, the item was priced well, and the item arrived quickly. Replaced the element using the screws that came with the element and the screws saved from removing the replaced part.
