How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

Bought new coil and it works beautifully. I’m only 5’3” so my arms could not reach the screws in the back. But hubby came to the rescue! Be sure to use a magnetic screwdriver!! 

Ordered an oven bake element online with the help of a customer service representative. I turned off the power to the oven, removed the oven shelves, unscrewed the front plate using a screw driver. I pulled the broken bake element toward me to expose the screws connected to the electricity. I unscrewed the two wire connectors using a screwdriver. I installed the new oven bake element and connected the two wires using a screwdriver. I then pushed the oven bake element back into the oven and used a ratchet to install the screws that secured the element to the oven wall. 

I was considering buying a new oven when the troubleshooter guide indicated it was just the elements. I'm so glad I found this site! The elements arrived in about 4 days, and after a 10 minute removal/install, my oven works like new. Easy easy easy! $40 versus $1000. THANK YOU! 

Piece of cake. took out the old one and replace the new one in reverse order. 

I ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pros. I ordered it on Feb. 8th, 2018 and was told I would receive it by Feb. 12th. I thought that was fast enough, however, I received the part the next day. The website also had some U-Tube instructional video's attached on the lower screen and I clicked on the one to install the electric oven element. I followed the directions exactly as shown. Since mine was a wall oven, it took a little longer to get access to the back of the oven. Once I shut off the breaker to the electric oven, it only took me about a half hour to complete the job. I'm a 72 year old woman and was able to replace the part. This is a great company to order appliance parts from, not only because the service was so fast, but the part itself was reasonably priced and the attached instructional videos saved the day for me.

Ordered replacement part and followed video directions for fairly simple replacement. Job took about 20 minutes with alignment of element proving to be a bit tricky. Upon completion of installation, I turned the oven on and everything worked properly. I measured the temperature with an oven thermometer and after a brief warmup the oven was very close to exact temperature set. 

Replaced the element. Oven about 28 years old, elements have failed before.
