How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2014008 / WB2X9154 Round Style Oven Or Broiler Igniter

Removed old Igniter. Replaced with new. 

I ordered a new igniter. 

The broiler worked, but the oven did not. Since the igniter on the oven did not glow orange, I determined that was the problem. It was simple enough to replace the igniter. Just follow the instructions as explained in the video. Upon testing though, the burner did not immediately light. When it finally did, it was with a loud bang or whoosh! A previous repair (not mine) had fastened the igniter slightly closer to the burner using only one of the two mounting screws. Being clever, I returned it to the original position using both screws. I suspected this might have been the cause of the delayed lighting and bang. When I returned the igniter to the single-screw position, it worked perfectly, FYI, it takes a full 35 seconds for the burner to light. 

With a little bit of time watching You Tube on how to fix this problem. 

I ordered an igniter. Immediately after it was delivered in the mail, I installed it. The whole process was quick and easy. Highly recommended! 

For my GE range, I followed the video showing the replacement. The AppliancePartsPros video was totally correct for my GE range where the written instructions with the GE part were not. The one glitch was the video showed cutting off the adaptor plugs with about 3 inch of wire attached. I followed this instruction and then found I should have left about 8" of wire attached. I had to do a double splice to reach the terminal. Figure out how long the wire needs to be before you make the cut. The oven is back to work. 

I couldn't have done it without the help of the AppliancePartsPros tech line. I assumed (correctly) that it might need a new igniter. Purchased the igniter from you with prompt delivery. Found You Tube directions online and they were great. However there were two screws in the back that were very hard to loosen, remove and reinstall. The bottom of the oven blocks one of the screws and I had to carefully "bend" the bottom of the oven get that screw in. Once the igniter was in place and power turned back on, the oven works great. 

I installed a new ignitor. The only difficulty with the job is removing the various heat baffles to get to the burner itself with the ignitor attached. Also I did some clean-up of the oven which took time. I also tested the new ignitor vs. the old for conductance to make sure I had a faulty part. I have done this repair before and was fairly certain what the problem was. A year or so ago I had replaced the motherboard control so I knew it wasn't that.
