How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5803461 / WH23X10030 Drain Pump

Ordered the updated part & was able to fix my old washer in 25 minutes. I was worried it would not work because the new style pump was so different. But, it has been working perfectly for over a week and many loads of laundry. By taking care of this myself w/your part, I saved almost $200. Thanks !! 

Replaced the drain pump. 

Watched the YouTube video. Pryed off the front as demonstrated, unhooked it. Marked the wires and replaced the drain pump, put it back together. 

I bought a new pump. The video on your website was very helpful for the swap. When I took the hoses off the old one I discovered a sock in the pump inlet. I plugged the old pump back in and it still works, but since I had the new pump I went ahead and installed it. The drum still had water in it, so I took the washer out on the porch and laid it on its left side so the drain pipe was on top. This way I didn't get a flood of water in the utility room floor. I have a hand truck and ratchet strap, which made the move easy. 

I replaced the drain pump. While I was at it and already going to be working on the lower end of the washer I replaced the belt also. 

Searched for the drain pump on AppliancePartsPros.com, they immediately found the exact one, even has the same brand name and numbers as the original one that is about 13 years old. Shipped super fast, got it in 2 days. Unbolted the 2 bolts securing it to the frame with a 3/8" socket, disconnected the wiring harness, disconnected the hose clamps and 2 hoses. Vice grips will make the hose clamps SO much easier. Reversed the process and tested. Washer runs like new now. $60 is a lot better than a new washing machine. They are so expensive now!
