How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2059046 / WR2X7054 Push-On Nut

I followed the video and it all fell into place. Very easy to follow. 

I removed the dishwasher because it is just much easier to work on when the dishwasher is lying on its back. Removed the drain valve solenoid, retaining nut, and the old rubber seal. Cleaned the area and inserted the new rubber seal and retaining nut. Reinstalled the solenoid and the reinstalled the dishwasher. 

Dishwasher started leaking during cycle. Thought about replacing the dishwasher until I saw cost. Removed front cover and found where it was leaking. Went to Appliance Parts Pros and found the seal. The best part was that they showed how to replace. Followed their instructions, took about hour and leak was stopped. Cost $40.00, great deal. 

Replaced the shaft seal. It was a pretty simple repair and most DIYers could complete it without too much trouble.

Used shaft seal and push-on clip purchased from AppliancePartsPros. Went exactly as the repair video described. However, at first, I couldn't get the c-clip back on the shaft after replacing the seal. It turned out that I didn't have the push-on (Tinnerman) clip pushed on all the way. Until it was in the groove in the shaft. The clip is very tight and the shaft has some in-and-out play, so you may need to grasp the end of the shaft with pliers and use needle-nose pliers to push the nut all the way on until it rotates freely. Once I did that the installation went as described in the video. 

Replace seal. Video on site was very helpful, especially how to remove the clip and to make sure you order both it and the seal. 

Replace seal and drain solenoid. Video helpful no problem. Helpful hint Water in the door migrates to the top of the door when the unit is upside down while working on it I had to open the door and use a hairdryer on controls Works great hopefully for another 25 years 

Model:GSD4020Z07BB After replacing the Gasket Insert, Valve Body Gasket, and Piston/Nut Assembly, the leak was still not fixed. Traced the leak to the Shaft Seal on the dishwasher pump. This is an easy fix, but you need to remove the dishwasher from under the counter. The push-on-nut (metal lock washer) was a bit of a bear to get on. Initially tried pushing it by pushing on it with needle-nose pliers. Putting equal pressure across the washer. Eventually, had to tap it gently with a hammer. Make sure the washer sits in the grove. 

I was able to fix it pretty quick once I found the right tools.
