How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2020569 / WB13K21 Oven Bake Igniter

I replaced the temperature sensor, which did not solve the problem. I visited the AppliancePartsPros web site, and they indicated that the problem was found to be the igniter about 80% of the time. I ordered a new igniter, installed it, and now the oven appears to be operating normally again. 

Found a hole in the burner tube next to the igniter. Replaced both igniter and burner. Very easy repair. Works great now. 

My wife is an avid cook. Gas range and oven sees heavy use. We burn out the oven igniter every few years. Fortunately the broiler and oven igniters are identical. She rarely uses the broiler. So to keep her going I just swap them. Replace the bad oven igniter with the good broiler igniter. Then I install the new OEM igniter in the broiler when I receive it in a couple days from AppliancePartsPros. Zero downtime except for the time it takes me to make the initial swap the and then again to install the new part in the broiler. 

Since the burners worked I knew the stove was getting gas and electricity. I googled the model number and read more than likely it was the electrical igniter. This website stated 87% of the time the igniter was the problem. The website also had a video on how to change the igniter, which appeared to be pretty simple so I ordered the part through them. (They were also least expensive and quickest ship time.) Part was received in under 2 days. Within 10 min, I had the part replaced and oven working. The video was spot on with directions on how to change it out. 

Video on you tube said probable cause was it nighter not getting hot enough to trip gas valve on. So, I order new igniter and replaced it following the video and everything is working perfectly! 

Verified operation/ non-op w/ oven, broiler, stove top, digital controller. Found: -stove stop had spark. (ie. 120V.) all burners were operational. -digital display had no read out on it. Confirmed on control board power in no power out. -checked resistance on hot surface ignitor to find low reading for room temp. -checked broiler ignitor to be ok. - ordered parts from APPROS.COM - received 2 days later and installed both broken components following weekend. Tested all operations. All working @ time of test. 

Thank you AppliancePartsPros.com for the information has how to eliminate the yellow flame in oven. Turning the brass fitting on oven safety valve clock wise eliminated the yellow flame. Fitting adjustment was two and one quarter turn clock wise. Oven now burns with a beautiful blue flame. Thanks again for taking the time to help me with this problem. Ronald J. Adams. 

Diagnosed the problem to be a weak ignitor, had not failed totally. Ordered to part, arrived in 3 days and installed in 15 minutes. The oven works perfect. When appliance get over 12 yrs old they will needs work. Use Appliance Parts Pro and solve the problems.
