How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5805160 / WE01X20374 Timer Knob

Got new switch and knob from appliance pros and installed parts. 

I called Appliance Parts Pros.com and discussed the problem with the great customer service rep and she helped me order the correct replacement part. 

Replaced the knob with new one. New knob had metal sleeve in it. Took less than 1 minute.

Replaced both the timer and the knob. Should have just replaced the knob in the first place, there wasn't actually anything wrong with the timer until I broke the plastic stalk off. 

Removed the old knob and replaced it with the new Knob. The new Knob was modified with a metal band around the plastic part of the Knob where the Knob mounts to the shaft. That was a good move on the part of the manufacture of the new Knob. 

Ordered new timer and knob based on the model dryer I had. Unscrewed top panel on the back of the dryer. Removed the broken timer and held it side by side to the new timer. I switched the wires one by one to the new timer and then put it back into the slot. Screwed the back panel back on and put the new knob on and it worked perfectly. 

Replaced control knob 

Too easy for words. Pulled the broken one off and slid the new one on. 

Replaced timer and knob.
