How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5805160 / WE01X20374 Timer Knob

Replaced it 

My Dad checked it out and determined the problem was the timer as the knob was cracked and spinning on the shaft. The timer wouldn't turn at all, even with pliers. 

Diagnosed the problem and found that the stem on the knob was stripped and broken.I took a picture of the model and sn. on my phone. I gave an option for website link ,which was awesome and very easy, I then ordered the required parts and installed them. Tested everything and reassembled , and bam I’m back in business. Wife is happy because she was having to use pliers to use the dryer before the repair. I’m really happy with the ease of ordering the correct parts. I'm a service technician and really loved ease of parts ordering. Instead of calling and hoping you get a reliable knowledgeable person this was done for you. Very happy

Ordered correct replacement, Received new one. Removed broken knob, and installed new one. 

Called Appliance Parts Pros and spoke to the most wonderful person by the name of Sally who helped me out with what replacement part I needed for my GE dryer. 

I purchased new timer switch and knob. Removed old one by following instructions on appliance part pros site. They have great instructions along with help in ordering correct parts. 

Replaced dryer knob. It's a stretch to even call this a "repair," I literally just slid the new knob on. 

Ordered a new knob. 

Pull the old one off, push the new one on.
