How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5972814 / 4400EL2001F Dryer Belt

The AppliancePartsPros video on replacing the drum rollers and belt made this repair simple and straightforward. I wouldn't try this job unless the video were available. If you are the least bit handyman inclined you won't have a problem with this repair. Initially I bought just the drum rollers for replacement but when I saw the worn out belt I ordered the dryer belt to finish the job. 

Got excellent Tech support from Kenneth and he suggested the parts that I needed. Those corresponded with the web videos and research that I did. I ordered the parts and expected them in 5 days but was delighted that they came in 2. Put the dryer back together with some help from my wife. It worked great and has been working well for a week now. 

Replaced the idler pulley assembly and dryer belt with OEM parts from AppliancePartsPros.com. 

I watched your video on youtube which instructed me on how to disassemble the dryer. I replaced the four support rollers, and reassemble them. Your video gave me the confidence to give the DIY repair myself. The parts I ordered from you arrived in two days which kept the laundry from piling up! From start to finish took me less than two hours. The repair could have taken less, but I used the opportunity to do a deep cleaning inside the machine. I also had a lot of metal filings to clean out because my wife ran the machine for days on the failing bearing until the sound reached "bad" in her opinion. 

Replaced all four roller assemblies and installed new belt since machine was apart. Front rollers barely turned on their bearings due to debris buildup. One developed a flat spot since the drum was still moving. When it released, it caused the thumping. 

Though it was the rollers, possibly the belt. decided to change both. Took off the top cover and discovered the issue was the drum being cracked in the roller path. Ordered another one, and replaced all the parts. Cleaned all the guts as best as I could. Runs like new! 

I read online about people having the same trouble and they all said it was the motor with built-in overload protection. They all said they replaced the motor. So I bought an OEM motor through AppliancePartsPros.com and replaced it. It now (so far) works like a new machine. I also replaced the belt as long as I had it apart. If anyone tries to do this I suggest finding a video on how to take your machine apart. I found some videos that made it a lot easier with a few tricks on how to do it. 

Replaced the Drum Support Rollers 

Replaced the idler pulley assembly and dryer belt and 4 wheels/bearing supporting the dryer.
