How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4438395 / 5007JA3006R Refrigerator Ice Chute Door

I watched a short video on how to remove the front control panel, and the interior parts. My control panel trim was slightly different, but I follow the same procedure, as in the video, and it worked great. I took my time, and even doing so, the whole process took me about 25 minutes. I replaced the Ice chute door/flap, and the solenoid. My wife was ready to go out and buy a new 'fridge'. This saved me about 2K. Parts only cost about $75 bucks. I am very happy, and so is the Wife. Thanks again. 

I ordered the ice chute door and followed your video of how to remove the cover and enclosures. The directions on the video were very easy to follow. I was so happy to be able to fix this myself without calling a repairman. There was only one place where my refrigerator was different than on the video. Behind the one screw I had a small metal strip (maybe you could call it a rectangular washer). I was able to figure that out. 

Followed the instructions received via email. 

Replaced it with new. 

Using the replacement part I ordered through AppliancePartsPros.com and the accommodating YouTube video, I was able to easily repair the ice maker without having to call someone to come out and repair it. 

Replaced solenoid assembly 

The lever resting in solenoid pin broke off from normal wear. Replaced with new part. 

Replaced ice shot door. Because the original ice funnel was glued in by the manufacturer, it could not be removed without breaking, resulted in replacement of the ice funnel and dispenser assembly. Unfortunately the dispenser was damaged when I received it. This wouldn’t have happened if packaged from the supplier in a box instead of a bubble rap envelope. Fortunately i was able to repair (glued together). The drip tray was not the correct part hopefully I can return and exchange. However I fixed the problem in about 30 minuets. 

Replaced broken solenoid assembly, ice chute door and ice funnel. 

The lamp cover and freezer door gasket were simple to replace, however before doing the repairs I discovered that the water line to the ice maker was leaking therefore I got help from a repair person at a local appliance store to fix the line and he also helped with the installation of the ice chute door....I would say the most difficult part was getting to the old ice chute door to replace as you have to be careful that you don't break one of the tabs holding the dispenser unit in place, but after that it all went well and fairly fast.
