How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4438395 / 5007JA3006R Refrigerator Ice Chute Door

Purchased the LG refrigerator with the house. Ice maker non functional. Googled the model number and chose Appliance Parts Pros to replace the parts. Initially removed the ice bin/bucket then the icemaker, then found the ice chute door partially open and frosted over as was the ice maker. Ice maker ice trays looked somewhat worn so ordered same along with the ice chute door and spring. Upon receiving the parts disconnected pwr. cord from the wall and removed the freezer door water and ice maker front panel. Used a thin putty knife and medium screwdriver to take off the panel. After two electrical connectors I was able to access the ice chute door and spring. R&R of both was pretty straight forward. Again thanks for the videos. Then reconnected the new ice maker and secured in place with little difficulty. However, the multi-wired connector and separate ground connection is very awkward to connect. 

Replaced the door.

Replaced Ice Chute Door. 

Followed your video and installed a new door ass'y. Poor design, curved plastic actuator lever is too thin - that is where it broke. Can't take the wear and tear from the solenoid. 

Bought the solenoid but that didn't fix it. Noticed the flapper was dangling so ordered that and it fixed the issue. My spring was also in good shape but make sure it sits in the proper hole when you put it back in. The video below was very helpful and installation was easy! Happy customer. 

Ordered the new door from AppliancePartsPros.com. Selected the cheapest shipping cost which would get it to me in 5-7 days. It arrived the very next day! The nice lady in customer service gave me a part number which included a video of how to fix the problem. I reviewed it twice and proceeded to repair the unit. It was difficult to get the door heater electrical wires loose, however, after struggling with it for about twenty minutes, it came loose. In about ten minutes the repair was completed. took ten minutes to put together and now is working beautifully! 

I was about to call an appliance repair company to fix my fridge when a friend recommend to check out your website... Are you kidding me... It was so easy. I had to remove the entire external water/ice dispenser, then unplug and remove the control panel. That allowed me to unplug the heated ice chute door and remove the single screw that held it in place. The problem was the ice chute door lever that connected with the operating solenoid had broken. The new part fit perfectly and the whole unit was fixed in about 30 minutes.
