How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5973786 / ABQ73503004 Drain Pump

Changed the drain pump and hose. 

The drain pump motor was bad. Pretty easy fix. Good engineering / design on these parts.

Replaced the drain pump 

Ordered the pump and replaced it. Side note: when I ordered the part on Friday, it said delivery would be Monday or Tuesday. The part was on my doorstep the next day. Nice surprise! Also, this is a OEM part. I read too many bad reviews of aftermarket parts, so you get what you pay for. 

Before i ordered this part, i took the original part out and being an electrical engineer, i completely dismanteled it, and looked at the PCB, the connector, wires, etc, but everything looked almosst brand new, not worn, or damaged, so i just put it back into the applicance, but had the same error code again. I then read on-line on this forum by another user that said he also looked at this part and it looked just fine, but replaced it anyways and then it worked. This was exactly what i did. I ordered the new part, replaced the old, and then boom... everything worked! I am glad i saw that other persons review, otherwise i would probably not have ordered this part thinking it was something else wrong. 

Replaced drain motor. Fit perfectly and now the dishwasher completes cleaning cycles and drains water completely. 

Googled error. Found ApplicancePartsPros.com You Tube video that described my problem and showed how to change the drain pump. Ordered the part from ApplicancePartsPros.com. It came quickly with free shipping. Replaced pump. 

The dishwasher was not draining and giving OE code. Checked filters and nothing was clogged. Could hear a slight high-pitched whine when trying to run a cancel and drain. Ordered the replacement drain pump, housing, and helpful suggestion while in there to replace the check valve. The motor metered out normally but the impeller was completely seized up. Had my wife hold and tip the dishwasher to give me more room. Simple replacement, the dishwasher is working perfectly now.
