How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5675953 / AEQ73110205 Icemaker (14 Cube)

Replaced the motor unit of ice maker. 

I researched online and determined (after several ideas to try to fix it) that the ice maker required replacement. I had a most difficult time finding any form of directions or instructions for the removal and replacement of the unit. After speaking with LG, I was finally able to obtain a very poor quality one-page instruction. According to LG the reason there are no videos or instruction sheets out there is because LG would prefer you call an LG repair person. Be sure you order the correct ice maker. My model and serial numbers indicated that I had a choice of two versions of the ice maker. And of course, this determination could not be made until the unit was removed from the refrigerator. Talk about circuitous!!! Once I had the correct ice maker replacement, it took about 15 minutes to install the unit. Phew! All told, it took several hours from research and run-around to final install. 

Ordered the new Ice maker, watched the video tutorial, 30 minutes later unit replaced, 4 hours later "We have Ice!!!" 

I looked up the part number for the ice maker for my LG fridge and ordered it. The package came fairly quick and then with the help of the video I was able to replace the ice maker in 15 min or so. I did have to hit the “reset” or “test” button on the bottom left side in order to get the water going. Been working like new! 

We had this happen before and had paid a repair service to change it out. We could not reach the repair service with the current restrictions in place so we decided to try it ourselves. The part was half the cost of the previous repair so it was already a good start. The video was very well done and instructions were clear. The part came in a few days and we were able to swap it out. All is well now! Thank you for your excellent videos and having the correct part available at a reasonable cost! 

Ordered replacement ice maker. Watched video on how to remove and install. Done. Super easy, super simple. 

I did the repair myself replacing the unit. 

Bought replacement ice maker. Works fine now. 

Easy to replace. A real pro by now. Never buy another lg product. This is not APP fault APP was very fast and shipping super fast. Will use again next year when I've maker fails again. 

Ordered the part online and accidently ordered an incorrect part. upon notifying Appliance Parts Pro I was quickly advised to the correct part to order. Ironically the replacement part and correct part arrive the next business day. I'm extremely satisfied and enthusiastically happy that the replacement and repair was completed at a relatively inexpensive price and it took all of 10 minutes to repair. I would encourage all do it yourselfers to perform the work themselves. I'm certain I saved myself a ton of money.
