This is the second time I have replaced this part in my LG refrigerator. What happens is over time sediment collects in the trays and the ice cubes do not release when the ice maker attempts to twist the tray. This time, part of the mounting bracket on the right side actually broke.
The replacement was pretty straightforward, and it is back to working great again. I would like to know if there is any way I can increase the lifespan of this icemaker by cleaning that sediment somehow, or maybe replacing the refrigerator filter more often, or use a different brand filter to reduce or eliminate the deposits in the tray?
