How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4997248 / MFZ32863101 Dishwasher Pump Gasket

I followed the video you posted. Detached it from the cabinet. Disconnected the water. Turned off the power. Discounted the power line, no cord. Slid it out, tipped it over, and swapped the motor. It took 5 times longer to get the dishwasher out than to swap the motor. It was an easy project to disconnect everything. It just took time to get the dishwasher loose. 

R&R the circulation pump and seals. This machine is used everyday and was 6 yrs old at time of repair. Parts were a direct fit and the videos helped with the minor intricacies. 

Simple unscrew filter and replace 

My drain hose ruptured and when I went in to replace the hose, I found a piece of the check valve stuck in it. When I went in to confirm if that was indeed the check valve, the inner pump housing tabs broke as the plastic had become brittle over the years. So what started as a simple repair turned into a project. Fortunately, AppliancePartsPros.com had all the parts I needed, and that too at very reasonable prices - OEM parts at non-OEM prices, what a relief! Items were shipped really fast and I got them within a day or two. The replacement was very easy as AppliancePartsPros.com had video tutorials that showed step-by-step how to replace the housing and the check valve. I think the whole process took me maybe 15-20 minutes. Quite honestly, I am extremely pleased with the service from AppliancePartsPros.com - from the video tutorials to getting OEM parts within a couple of days. I could not ask for anything more. Fix was super easy (shockingly so)... I had to replace the filter, but when I did so I noticed that the gasket was cracked and I also broke one of the screw holes (for lack of a better term) in the Inner Pump Housing. So I ordered both. Only need a set of screwdrivers and about 30 minutes. Quick thanks to how quickly they shipped it out. I ordered it on a Monday and received it the next day. 

Cleaned all the spinning arms (3) to no avail (took apart and ran hot water through them in the laundry tub and rinsed w/ vinegar). Filter was the next step. Such a shame that it can't be removed and cleaned... what a waste. . First filter that was sent had a defect/broken tab on the back. AppliancePartsPros.com replaced quickly and easily, fast shipping. Still, had to wait 2 days for this repair... but not much I could do on my end. Installation was quick and easy and dishwasher now running like new, no food/grease and glasses are spotless and squeaky-clean. There was quite a bit of debris and hair (?!?) stuck in and around the white plastic spinning disc on which the filter sits. I took that out (that one screw turns OPPOSITE of what you'd think - righty-loosey lefty-tighty!!) and cleaned it. We live in an old house w/ plumbing issues so I think there may have been some backing up of water at some point which would explain the hair issues (yikes). All back to better, just wish it wouldn't have cost close to $100 to fix it. Of course - much less expensive than having someone come in to fix it - or buying a new machine! 

Replaced circulation motor 

Determined the circulation motor was bad. Removed and replaced circulation motor and 2 seals. (After I ordered I called as I thought I ordered the wrong parts. Customer service rep. Looked up the parts I need and assured me that I ordered the correct ones. Thanks so much for the great service) 

Ordered the parts and my hubby fixed it! 

After researching online and watching the videos on APP.com, we bought the new circulation motor. We watched the installation video and it made the job very easy and straight forward. We replaced the pump gasket while we were in there, as well. We put everything back together and ran multiple dishwasher cycles and everything is back to sounding normal.
