How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5800460 / DD82-01118A Dishwasher Control Sensor Assembly

Checked the internet to see what others did with the same problem and ordered the parts accordingly. 

Received an E1 error on my Samsung DW and was not able to make it through a cycle. After some research, determined that it was probably the thermistor. With the option of buying a new DW or having a service company come out and fix the problem for $300+, I decided to give this site a shot. Glad I did. Replaced the thermistor and the problem has been solved so far (only ran 2 twice since replacing). The videos are extremely helpful and made it easy for me to address the issue. 

Replaced part. 

I am by no means a plumbing expert - this was first ever time attempting. This was a straight forward replacement. Watch the first part of this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZY2kvSYQLY) to disconnect water and electrical lines. Safety first! Make sure you turn off the power before starting this process. Have a towel handy when you remove the hot water line. I ended up rubber banding plastic bags on the ends of the water lines so the water didn't get all over the floor. Now all lines (water and electrical) removed you can get ready to pull out DW. You need to remove all mounting screws. You'll most likely have to remove 4. My unit did not have mounting screws on the top inside lips. Rather, there were light gray tabs on the inside left and right. Pop the tabs to reveal screws. Pull out the DW. Put down a towel and roll DW on it's side. Underneath, remove two screws and pop two tabs to pull away the shield. Then you will see the part you need to replace. Unplug the wire plug then using an adjustable wrench remove part. Take the O-ring off the original part and put on the replacement part. Plug in the wiring then insert part and tighten (not too much!!) with the adjustable wrench. Repeat the process in reverse order to re-install your DW. Safety first! Make sure you turn off the power before starting this process. 

I looked on line for help, all indications were the A/s assembly sensor was bad. I used the steps indicated on this website (applianceparspros.com) to fix. I disconnected electrical (mine was wired to a plug so not hard), water and drain lines. Unscrewed two screws for bottom service plate and the two screws holding dishwasher to countertop. Pulled out dishwasher and places on back. Unscrewed two screws to the bottom cover place and removed. Located and removed Sensor assembly and gasket, replaced with new parts. Reassembled in reverse order. Ran dishwasher through a complete cycle. So far, working like new.

After doing some online research I found that the ecs heat sensor was the common culprit on this unit. Fortunately this part fixed the problem and my 12 year old daughter is back in the dishwashing business. It was a fairly simple fix. If you can install a dishwasher you can easily do this repair. 

Repair part ordered. 

Read customer forum and purchsed new ECS sensor. Followed all instructions described; unhook washer, pull out, put on back to reach bottom, open bottom, replace ECS sensor. Worked perfectly. So happy with $35 repair! Even a non-handy person could do this.
