How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5587522 / DC97-15877B Washer Drum Spider Assembly

Machine was a front load washer, after doing some research found that problem is usually caused by pressure sensor or the spider arm which attaches motor to tub. 

I watched the videos online then took it apart found the spider assembly was in pieces. So I ordered a new one and replaced it. Be careful with the bolts when removing assembly I broke the first one then used a map gas torch to heat the other five they came out fine. 

I ordered a new flange shaft from Appliance Parts Pros and replaced the defective part. The bolts that hold the flange in place were also corroded. Appliance Parts Pros had them in stock as well. Pretty much had to take everything apart to see/ fix the problem. I reused the original gasket in the plastic tub... it seemed okay and it isn't leaking. I will probably replace the rear section of the tub if the bearings go in the future. Getting the parts could not have been easier. 

Your video was very helpful! I had to take the washer apart to get at the spider arm. I followed the instruction on your video. After i took it apart, I clean each part. I even found metal in the hoses so they had to be cleaned out also. I then took the spider arm assemble that you sent and painted it with rust proof paint installed it and put the washer back together. It sound like it did when it was new. The repair went smoothly. Thanks to your video and parts. 

I went on google typed in the symptoms. I came across an appliance parts pro video. I took my washer apart and realized the part suggested was in fact broke. I ordered the part and to my amazement it came the next day ?? I used the video to do a step by step repair and now my washer is fixed! 

Called repairman. Not a DIY project by any means. Took 5 hours to install new part. Entire washing machine had to be dissembled to replace the flange shaft. Works beautifully now, but big repair job. 

Disassembled machine and found that the spider assembly had corroded so bad that it had two arms broken off. While disassembling, had one problem and that was removing the single bolt that holds the motor to spider shaft. I had to build a holding tool to remove the bolt. Replaced the spider and reassembled. 

Once everything was removed from the inside machine and taken apart and removed/replaced with new items, installation of them was very easy and self-explanatory. Just make sure to use proper tools to eliminate possibility of damaging any parts. Total service 2 hours and was fun. 

Watched the step by step videos on YouTube from Appliance Parts Pros. Disassembled the machine, changes out the part then reassembled the machine.
