How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4203183 / DC60-40137A Washer Spider Bolt

Completely broke down washer and replaced part using the instructional video. Everything worked. We are still catching up on laundry. It's running like a champ now. 

I opened everything up and saw that the spider are was corroded and cracked, and was causing the basket to settle into the boot when it reached the spin cycle. If you do replace that, you definitely will need the 6 bolts, since all but 1 broke off when trying to loosen them. Now everything works great. 

Watched the videos on Youtube on Samsung Washers like mine and determined that my machine had the same defect that effects many front loads, especially Samsung. Called manufacture to no avail. Found APP.Com website, watched disassembly video, got confidence that I could do the job, ordered parts. Meanwhile, I tore down the machine in preparation for the new parts and found as expected a cracked Assy-Flange (or Spider,as it is referred to online). Samsung has a manufacturing defect: they mix stainless steel and aluminum in this part which results in excessive corrosion and one leg ultimately gives way and, cracks and breaks (see videos online). Anyway, received and installed the part along with a rear tub seal (mine was ok, but didn't want to take a chance). Machine runs like new. Note: if you have a Samsung, you will need to do this every 6-7 years, so learn how to do it. Labor intensive, but not hard to do. Took me 6 hours total. Be sure to label all parts, especially screws, bolts and you will have no problem. Appliance Parts Pro staff were also very helpful, excellent service, delivery and followup! Thanks APP. 

I watched the YouTube repair video from Appliance Parts Pros. The video was excellent and provided an accurate, step-by-step process on how to fix the problem. It was challenging since there were a lot of disassemblies required in order to get to the part that was needed to be repaired. The parts were ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com and received the next day. I was back watching the video for the reassembly and in no time the washer was back in position and running like a new machine and I saved myself several hundreds of dollars in the process fixing it myself. 

I replaced the spider drive, and seal. Order new bolts like everyone says, all 6 broke removing. You need some technical ability and tools, but straight forward repair. A couple things I would do differently are- Absolutely wear gloves, Every edge inside is like razor wire. Move the machine out of any small room to access all sides. I spent more time moving washer back and forth for access(probably why I cut myself so much). Allow ample time, like all repair jobs it takes longer. I am happy with the repair. 

I had to completely disassemble the machine to replace the parts. The job took 2 1/2 hours total. 

After viewing your awesome video on YouTube, i was able to pull my machine apart and see the issue. After the problem was found, I used your website to order up the parts. A part was back ordered way out and your team let me know. Your customer service team did an outstanding job, even over the Christmas/ New Years Holiday, with assisting me. They where top notch! My machine is now repaired and working great. I couldn't have done it without your team! 

It took a lot of dismantling to get to the problem but all and all it took a lot of work rough cost $200. 00 If you are mechanically inclined you should be fine. All the parts were great. The people at Appliance parts Pro were great to work with excellent customer service. 

Called a repair person...they told me it was probably a "bent" tub and that for them to repair it would be around $500. So I figured I'd buy a new washer. But first..I decided to do some online investigating and found a great repair video from this site. I spent about 2 hours taking my washer apart to find a broken spider arm. I ordered parts for about $145. They came in 2 days. Took me about another 2 hours to put the washer back together and now it's working just fine. It's a little time consuming...mainly just following the video and starting and stopping so many times to make sure I had everything done correctly. A couple bolts stripped on my outer tub..I was able to replace with some I had and seemed to be fine. 

Thankfully Google quickly pointed me at lots of sites that told me the spider will corrode out in time, and I found the extremely helpful videos provided by Appliance Parts Pros. With the video guidance, I took things apart first to confirm exactly what was broken, and sure enough the spindle had completely separated from the spider, hence no rotation! It turned out that the rotating drum had obviously been rubbing on the plastic drum for some time, because when we separate the two halves of the plastic drum the front had rubbed all the way through. So we needed a new front half of the drum as well. Just as well those are available. I suspect next time this happens (7 or 8 years I suppose) none of the parts will be available. Overall it took about 2 hours to take things apart, and about the same to put to back together again. Nothing too difficult; just fiddly.
