How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4578789 / DC61-02627A Dryer Moisture Sensor

Read diagnostic articles on your site and others. Reviewed videos to confirm that I could repair it. Ordered a couple of likely sensors, e.g., thermistor. As was replacing the parts, saw heating element is blown out, which would also explain overheating, not cooling and shutting off. Repair started on Sunday, ordered new heating element on Sunday and thankfully was shipped that afternoon, arrived in Denver in 2-days on Tues so able to get dryer reassembled and multiple loads of wash started. Cools down and shuts off as normal, had been missing Samsungs “tune” at the end of the cycle. I especially appreciate App Parts Pro’s professional video’s to walk thru the disassembly and reassembly! 

I wasn't sure if it was the thermostat or the heating element until I took it apart. Once I got it apart I realized it was the heating element that had gone bad. I went ahead and replaced the heating element and the thermostat just to be sure. I did have to take almost the whole dryer apart to do it, but the how to videos made it so much easier to do! 

After some consultation with Suzanne, I was able to get the right part I needed to get my dryer fixed. I got the part very quickly and now my dryer is working again. Praise be to God! 

Replace thermal sensor and moisture. 

I Googled common issues which brought me to AppliancePartsPros.com. I did more research on their site and bought a thermal fuse and thermistor which were common items that go bad. They even had DYI videos on how to take apart your machine and replace the parts. Very helpful. Replaced the 2 parts and fixed the problem. It was the thermal fuse. Also took the time to clean out inside the dryer which was full of lint. Cleaned out the fan and housing the fan blew air through. Again lots of lint. It's working great and is a cheap fix. Hopefully will get many more years out of the dryer. 

Not knowing which part was not working, we replaced the moisture sensor, dryer thermistor and high limit thermostat. This involved taking the dryer completely apart (also an opportunity to remove lint and wipe out lint dust). The instruction video was spot on. The only real problem we had was reattaching the belt to the idler pulley (the spring kept popping off). The dryer now works perfectly. $90 in parts well spent. 

I replaced the thermistor. you can access the thermister from the exhaust ports in the back. its difficult to do this because you cant see you are doing. If you cant access it this way, then you have to take apart the whole dryer including the drum to get to it.... 

My husband changed out the old one for a new one. The estimate we got from the local repairman was $220! My husband fixed it for $20, which included the part, tax AND shipping! They were charging us $80 just for the part, plus labor and service call! The video made it so easy, I actually could have replaced it myself and that's saying a LOT! LOL 

I ordered the Dryer Heating Element Assembly coil unit ( complete assembly) from AppliancePartsPros and installed the unit after taking out the defective part from the Dryer. The Video for the(HEA) Heating Element Assembly installation obtained from their Website was on points 100% except the 2 other Phillips screws at the back of the HEA support bracket that was not explained during the video- a small stubby Phillips screwdriver with a mirror and Flashlight help to locate these 2 screws. Tools needed : A Vacuum Cleaner, a mirror, Flashlight, and a Stubby philliphead screwdriver and a longer Phillipshead screwdriver.-The Vacuum cleaner was the most important tool used because i did not realize how much lint was inside of the unit and the exhaust lint duct-i will be cleaning this more often and recommend to others to do the same. The Electric meter displays infinity resistance when the Heating coil was tested and the other two components on the HEA were good- Thanks to you ApplianceParts Pros.com for your video and Kudos to you from here on. 

Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com got it within 48 hrs. Removed the screws swept up some of the glass that was still in the channel put the screws back in. All total the project took less than 30 minutes.
