How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5577180 / DC34-00024B Washer Door Lock Assembly

I had a great experience with AppliancePartsPros.com! The door latch broke on my washing machine. I actually scheduled an appointment with a repair service, then I found the part on AppliancePartsPros.com and a video on YouTube on how to fix it myself. I cancelled my appointment and ordered the part on Sunday afternoon. The part arrived on Tuesday! Locked up code and confirmed it was a door locked, but I knew that because my washer door would not open after a wash cycle. Found on the internet how to remove a washer door lock, it seemed easy enough. I took the washer door lock off and I could see that it was broken as it was cracked and damaged. Went to AppliancePartsPro.com and they had good drawings, pics of the door lock and the numbers of the lock matched. Part came via FedEx within a day or two and I was able to install the washer door lock within 15 mins. Ordered the new Door Switch Assembly. 

I went online to find a replacement part but couldn't order one with just the model and serial number, a part number was required. I watched a video on YouTube to see how to remove the door switch assembly to get the part number. Luckily it can be accessed from the front by removing the door seal retainer and the 3 screws holding the switch asy in place. After spending an extra 10 minutes figuring out how to remove a cover from the assembly which blocks the part number label, I had what I needed. Returning to my online search I decided to order from AppliancePartsPros.com because I felt more confident I would be getting an OEM replacement even though many sites had parts for 1/4 the price. I ordered the part on a Thursday and got it on Saturday and had our washer back together and working within 15 minutes. 

I replaced the door switch assembly with this part from Appliance Parts Pros after a somewhat quick process all is working properly. I greatly appreciated the video of the repair. That gave me the confidence I needed to complete this repair myself. My version of washer is rarer, and I was worried I would be charged major money for a professional repair. I only wish I had found this site sooner. 

This is a job you can do yourself. A tad of patience goes a long way. AppliancePartsPros have a video that is so easy to follow. This is the second time in 7 yrs. I had to replace this part and APP shipped the part the same day. It took me less than an hour to install, like 30 maybe 40 min taking my time. This is the only company I will use to order my parts because I have found chasing around for a bargain and getting the right part from others didn't work out and wasted my time.
