How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4580056 / DE34-00330C Microwave Switch Membrane

Replaced it 

Had to replace with new switch membrane I followed the on line instructions 

Unplugged from wall outlet, remove the entire control assembly housing, unplugged all cables and ribbon, unscrewed and removed the logic board from the housing, forcefully removed the metal bracket from the housing, then removed the glued front panel front the housing. Peeled the protective paper from the back side of the new replacement part and applied it to he front face of the housing (top corners first) and snaked the ribbon through the same opening as before, then replaced the metal bracket into the housing assembly, replaced the logic board and screwed in, re-attached all cables and re-assembled everything into place. Started working right away with no -SE- error and hopefully will continue to do so regardless of humidity. 

We were away and the power had gone off. After online research, tried cleaning inside contacts in control panel, no change. More research, saw that the next most likely cause was a short in the switch membrane; ordered the part. Installed it yesterday, following an informative but not quite complete youtube video (didn't show how to remove the old membrane, which was the tough part). Had to disassemble control panel, unplug all wires, removed very-stuck-on existing membrane, replaced with new, plugged it all back in, tested before putting it all back together, it worked, so reassembled the control panel. It works. Only problem was inserting the two metal film/ribbon wires, the very sticky adhesive on the back immediately adheres and becomes immovable without injuring the new part, so the membrane is out of the frame, probably less than 1/16" and it works fine. 

The whole problem started with the SE error. I had been cleaning and re-connecting the keypad ribbon connector to the control board, but after a while that no longer worked. Then the keyboard became completely unresponsive. Most forums I read, including this one, suggested buying a new peel-and-stick keypad for $46. It was an easy fix and now it works great. 

Have cleaned the contacts in our Samsung microwave several times during the past few years after receiving the SE error. This time, the button panel would no longer function. We ordered the switch membrane and replaced it following some helpful youtube videos. Works great! Wonderful and fast service from AppliancePartsPros! 

Like everyone else I had the code. When I went to the internet to find out what it was I learned of the problem everyone was having. I located the web page for Appliance Parts Pros and saw so many positive reviews about the part needed to fix the issue, So I figured for under $50 it was worth a try. Installed the part after reading other reviews and after about 30 minutes, new life for our microwave. If it last another 7 years I won't know because I plan to sell my home in the next year, but still much cheaper than a new microwave or a repair man coming to the house. Just make sure you clean the old glue residue off completely and align the control panel before sticking it to the plastic. You only have one shot. I also took photos of the control panel with my phone before I disconnected the wires in case I forgot what wire went where. 

Replaced the membrane. Works great, easy fix. 

Ordered touch panel and problem resolved.
