Found parts that affect heating (fuse, thermostat and heating element), watched associated videos and decided to switch out all three since they're co-located (and I'm not an electrician and don't have the testing equipment). Video made it all very easy to accomplish. Heater now works and grandpa's a hero ... for less than $100.
