How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015313 / WPW10119828 Washer Lid Screw

I replaced the lid switch. 

After failed efforts to get Whirlpool to replace defective glass lid, found customer fix on your site. The metal lid, hinges and screws were sent in two days and after 10 minutes installing the new top, it works and looks perfect. Whirlpool should own the defect and send all Cabrio owners these parts. If you can use a screwdriver, you can fix your Cabrio washer. What a relief after a year of dealing with the broken glass top. 

After reading reviews on line, many people were having this problem and were replacing with an all metal lid that whirlpool doesn't let you know about and you all can only recommend the exact replacement part so I took the chance to try this and it worked great. Easy fix and no longer have the problem of the cheap plastic. I have a daughter with the same machine and she has replace her lid 2 times and it's broke again. I just placed another order for the parts to fix hers with the all metal lid. The parts to do this are: Lid - part # WP8572026 need 1 ea. Hinge arm part # WP8563964 need 2 ea. Screws part # WPW10119828 need 4 ea. This fix took about 10 minutes, you will need all of this as the hinges and screws for the new lid are different from what is on there and the old ones will not work. This fits the machine great and looks like it was made on it. 

We had purchased the four year extended warranty from Lowe's and had the lid replaced four times, hinges and brackets twice. This last time it broke, it was out of warranty. We bought this all metal lid, hinge arms and screws, installation was easy. We had washer model WTW7800XWZ. 

Replaced with metal lid AP6013408, 2 AP6004844 hinges, and 4 AP6015313 screws. Found instructions for removing old door and replacing it on U Tube videos. Was worried that it would not fit, looking at the grid in description of part, but it fit perfectly and works very well. No plastic parts to crack anymore. 72 yr. old woman did repair alone. 

I ordered new set of metal lid, lid hinges, and screws. It worked. 

I installed the dog teeth and noticed I had a hose leak and the timer went bad. This was my first time repairing a washing machine so I watch each video for each part and was able to fix it myself. Thank you for spending the time to make those videos, it really helped. 

Found the fix for replacing the glass lid with a metal lid. Ordered the lid and 2 hinges and four screws as recommended and it worked perfectly. 

Replaced the factory glass and plastic lid with these parts and it was a perfect fit and easy to install. Now the washing machine looks good and works as it should. 

Thanks to all those who made the recommendation. This all-metal top, along with the recommended hardware, is a perfect replacement for the glass lid. No more cracks! Just be sure to have Torx-15 screwdriver to remove the old one. I also ordered 6 screws, 2 more than I needed, as I am clumsy (and she enough, I dropped one, and couldn’t find it...but had extras!!)
