How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011758 / WP8182119 Bellow Tub Seal

Repair was easy. Watched the video and it was helpful. There was a variation of the model being demonstrated in the video but wasn’t a problem. Be sure you turn water off and unplug the machine. Wouldn’t hurt to clean out the drain catch while you are at it if you haven’t done so in a while. 

We did a DIY replacement of the Bellow tub seal. We ordered the part which arrived more quickly than expected and followed the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWTy4-27yUc. We watched the video a couple times prior to starting and then throughout our repair. It was an exact step by step guide to the repair and VERY easy to do. We had assumed we would have to get a repair tech to do the repair or replace the machine, so had dealt with the leak by placing a catch pan under the front of the machine for a long time. Once we completed the repair we laughed at ourselves at how easy it was and why we waited so long to do this! 

Followed appliance parts pros install video plus ordered bellow tub seal. Take your time to get the seal on the correct way. At first, when it comes in the package it can be inside out. 

I followed the excellent video that Appliance Parts Pros has for replacing this part. I think they did a Whirlpool machine but my Maytag was close enough that the video still applied. I removed the top, loosen the top control panel, removed the lower panel, removed half the seal and then the door assembly. Removed the other half of the seal that's on the tub and then put it all in reverse to reassemble it. It went pretty smoothly. 

Reviewed video on how to replace which was extremely helpful. Job took about a couple of hours, consisting mainly of removing various screws and panels, cleaning existing surfaces and installing new gasket. New seal worked perfect and replaced drawer at the same time. Parts fit great, for an 18 year old machine, works like new again. 

Replaced pump. Bellow was replaced due to soap residue.

I watched a very good video on AppliancePartsPros.com and then bought the part from them. Overall, the instructions were easy to follow. Matt (in the video) makes it really easy to follow. This is my third appliance that he's guided me through. Two nuances you'll have to deal with for those who have a "tear drop trim ring" like mine (Whirlpool model WFW9200SQ00) First, you'll need to remove that trim ring before attempting to remove the control panel. Starting at the top, carefully pry/pull off the trim ring. It will require some effort and you'll probably break a clip or two. Don't worry, it happens. Everything will go back together tight even if you broke a few. On the matching dryer, that part was a beast to get off...the washer felt easier. Second, you don't need to remove the door switch, just skip that step. When you get to the step of removing the front panel/door section all you need to do is disconnect the assembly wires from the back of the panel. Big fan of AppliancePartsPros! Good luck! 

I followed the instructions on the excellent video. I replaced the bellow tub seal. I did need help in putting the door back on. It was a little heavy for me, the video shows one person putting it back. My handyman skills are not very good, but the video was great and guided us to a successful repair.
