During the pandemic, couldn't find a new dryer available, so I figured for $200 or so, I would attempt to fix the Kenmore. I researched it, and came to this site. They said there are usually 3 possibilities that cause the problem. 1. The Idler Pulley; 2. the Drive Belt; and 3. The Drum Support rollers, (four rollers in my model). I decided to do all 3 options while the machine was apart. There are how-to videos in the parts pictures on this site. All the videos were VERY helpful! With a few minor differences, my machine was nearly identical to their example machine. The idler pulley replacement, you go in from the back. The others go in from the front. When I replaced the 4 drum support rollers, one of them was obviously the problem. The inside bearing was detached from the center, and out about 1/4 inch. The dryer is fixed and I have new parts for all the other things, so maybe it will last another 15 years! Honestly, the hardest part was getting the Dryer Vent hose back on. It seems to collapse and joints fall apart at the slightest touch.
