How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5983729 / 661570V Whirlpool Drive Belt

The drum support bearings were not rotating freely and were beginning to squeak. The new support bearings did the trick. The dryer is as good as new now. Super fast shipping, I would definitely order parts from them again. It was also a great time to vacuum out all the lint build-up in the dryer!! 

I received the drive belt and verified that it was a match the old drive belt. I then disassembled the front of the dryer, installed the new drive belt, and reassembled the dryer. The dryer now works properly. 

Watched your videos to troubleshoot and repair. 

Order the pulley you suggested, and it worked really well No squeaking now 

Saw a video at AppliancePartsPros.com. I took the dryer apart and confirmed the belt was broken, I found the belt on APP, watched the video on how to install it again to gain a little more confidence, and took care of business, it was easy, cost about a tenth of what the repair man would have wanted and now I'm back to washing clothes for my family like the chump that I am. 

Replaced thermistor and thermal fuse. No problems with replacement. 

I checked the most common problems and when I opened it up found a broken drive belt. I ordered a new belt and when it arrived It was easy to install and my dryer nows works again. 

I looked at the video for disassembly/assembly instructions and purchased the belt. 

Opened up dryer (ck YouTube for specific model) and removed front panel. Removed the cover over the blower wheel. Initially thought belt had failed. Once open, saw the belt was still intact. Removed the drum and the belt. Attempts to rotate the blower wheel / motor shaft were a challenge due to bearing(s) having failed. In attempting to remove the Blower wheel the old wheel (17.5 yo) cracked / split. Snapped the remaining pieces of the old blower wheel off, removed those pieces thus gaining access to the three screws holding the blower wheel "assembly in place. Labeled all the wire connections / photo'd same as to the motor (overkill). Removed the old motor / mount from the machine then swapped out the new motor onto the motor frame. Reversed the process and put the machine back together. Instruction sheet for the new motor "connections" is somewhat blurry due myriad copying - that said the process is pretty simple. 

Video shows replacing the belt from the front but had the back of the machine apart to replace the idler pulley and was able to replace the belt and pulley from the back. Parts arrived in 1 day with standard shipping.
