How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5983729 / 661570V Whirlpool Drive Belt

Took the back of washer off seen the belt was off and shredded. Cut off all string and put the belt back on to finish the load. Took the back off of the dryer and rolled the drum by hand and could hear a rubbing sound, the tub was hard to turn. it had been rumbling for weeks, kept the door to room closed. Went online and looked up parts from different dealers and parts sellers. Checked out Appliance Parts Pros .com, they had how to fix videos, Great, so I ordered parts and watched the videos. Part came in 7 days, started the job with help from a friend, was fairly easy with videos. So at that time, we vacuumed out all the lent at the bottom of the dryer. From now on I will Vacuum it out at least once a year. could be a fire hazard. Thanks, ApplianceProw. 

I have an older Electric dryer I think a 2003 Maytag so I had to takeoff the top and back cover then I pulled the pulley aside to get the belt off. Then I removed the pulley by taking off one screw, just make sure you look at the belt on how it goes on so you remember to put it back the same way. But in order to get the belt off the machine, I had to disconnect some wires and disconnect the electric burner. The only problem I had was the clip that goes to the hose, I ended up removing it because I could not get it to stay on. Other than that, I was very happy with the product that came in the next day as promised, and they worked very well on my dryer so I now have a dryer. Thank you!

I ordered the belt and idler pulley and replaced the two parts. 

Replaced rollers and belt. 

The parts were just like OEM and was easy to repair. Shipping was very fast and well packaged. Will use this site for sure. Hardest part was getting the belt routed around the idler and motor pulley. 

Replaced belt and idler pulley assembly with new parts for both. This is the second time I have made this repair on the same dryer. Not blaming the parts but I see they have made a change to the idler pulley. The dryer is in great condition and it was a very simple repair, well worth the effort and very little cost for the parts. 

Disassembled dryer to verify idler pulley was seized up. Then sprayed pulley with lubricant to get by until my parts arrived. Replaced idler pulley along with belt and now it makes no sounds. Tested with two full wet loads. 

Replaced broken motor drive pully. Watched video on how to replace. 

For starters, I let my husband do all the work. We followed the instructions on youtube for dismantling the dryer, replaced the parts, and put the dryer back together. While the dryer was dismantled, we used an air hose and cleaned out all the built up lint that was inside. It is amazing what builds up in there in spaces you can't normally see.
