How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5983729 / 661570V Dryer Drive Belt

New wheels, idler pulley and belt. The vibration was no-doubt coming from the worn wheels. I replaced the idler pulley and belt as a pre-caution and I already had the machine dis-assembled. Which is the most difficult part of the job. While the machine is dis-assembled, spend the extra time to clean out all of the lint. 

Followed the video and replaced it. 

Per video to replace the motor, I removed the front of the Whirlpool Duet dryer and drum. Using a small pair of vise grips, I gripped the shaft in a tight spot towards the front. Then using a small pipe wrench I was able to turn off the broken pulley counter-clockwise like a normal thread (not a left hand thread for the pulley). Replace belt per AppliancePartsPros video. 

I fixed it myself. I could not find a video for my Sears Kenmore model so disassemble was on my own. however the videos did show me how to thread the belt. also this was an opportunity to clean out the duct work of any lint build up. I would like to add the dryer is 15 years old with moderate to heavy use, and this is the first servicing. with new belt it runs like new. ran 9 loads through first day. 

I removed the top of my dryer and realized the belt had broken. Was able to watch a video by Appliance Parts Pros .Com and ordered the belt, which came in a couple of days, and was able to replace the belt myself. It only took about 20 minutes...great experience and will turn to Appliance Parts Pros in the future. Dryer works great by the way....Thanks 

Found the parts on your web site, and once I received them I follow the videos on how to remove the old ones and replace with new. 

Followed directions on utube they were great 

I purchased my conversion kit from you watched you repair video opened my dryer only to find someone had previously converted it already it was clearly marked propane. However I would have been able to have easily done the conversion myself thanks to your video and quick delivery of the conversion kit. Thank You 

We just trying to prove that instead of buying new appliances you can fix it for a fraction of a new one, we went to hhgreeg almost walk out of there with a new washer and dryer $1,300 . But we desided to save fixing the one we have so it work. a little research wached few videos. Not a rocket science thing And it work. Break the mold don't buy a new one fix it instead. Especially now days everything is expensive don't buy the idea of you need a new one. Save for a new one when the old one totally breaks. Good luck. Thanks part pro easy to shop parts from them. 

We researched the issue on the internet and thought that the noise was due to the drum support roller but also noted recommendations to replace the idler pulley and drum belt at the same time. We viewed the you tube videos and followed the guidance. The repair took about one hour (less then originally planned). The hardest part was putting the drum back into the dryer and running the belt back through the idler pulley. We are so glad the issue occurred as there was a tremendous amount of dust inside the dryer which was a potential fire hazard.
