How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6019229 / WPW10310240 Electronic Control Board

First I followed the website to order HV control board. But the one website suggested was not the correct part number.By refrigerator was Wirlpool Amana (Model:AFI2538AES). The Correct HV control panel needed was part #WPW10310240. If you have same refrigerator model, make sure you get correct HV control board. Instead of depending on website to give compatible part, call them or chat and ask them for correct part number. Once received the HV board, replacing old one was easy. After i replaced, the control panel started flashing PE 00000 without letting me change the digits as mentioned in instructions. I tried multiple times by powering down and on. But did not work. when I press on refrigerator + button, it shows H20 and down button shows ICE. After some trials I found that the time I depress the freezer button and alarm button matters. if I do not press button for 3secs, it wont work. Finally I made it to work by properly pressing the buttons and maintaining the duration as mentioned in instructions. 

I watched a YouTube about the symptoms that my fridge was having and it pointed to the control board. I shopped the board on several sites and AppliancePartsPros.com was very competitive. I ordered it on a Friday afternoon and was told to expect it to take 2 days to arrive. Well, since the second day was a Sunday, I figured it would be Monday. It arrived the next day (Saturday) by FedEx. I had the refrigerator running and reprogrammed 20 minutes later. 

After a false start due to a wrong replacement part being ordered, I was able to replace the refrigerator control board quickly and easily following a YouTube video. Programming the replacement board, just followed the instructions provided with the replacement board. 

With wpw10310240 and you have to program the appliance after you put it in. 

It was a simple matter to unplug the old START-DEV and plug-in the new. The only problem I had was the wire clip that held the old START-DEV in place would not work on the new part because of a difference in the thickness of the parts.

The control board arrived on time and I installed it. My next issue was programming the control board with this refrigerator's needs. The specific program code was on the refrigerator's data plate. I found the method to enter the code numbers by using AppliancePartsPros.com video links. I entered all the required information and the refrigerator has been running great ever since! 

The technician helped me to diagnose the problem, I ordered the part and it was delivered in several days and it fixed the problem. The only tricky part is programming the new board which took the longest time.
