How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6019229 / WPW10310240 Electronic Control Board

I checked with the AppliancePartsPros website and talked to a technical rep. All recommendations said to replace the electronic control board. This was ordered and the part was received promptly and installed. It would not program. A new board was promptly shipped, installed, and programmed. It came right up and is working well. The tech rep took the time to find and send me the factory programming procedure. Outstanding service! A side note: The part number between the original board and the replacement was different. I questioned the tech if this was the cause of the first programming issue. He researched this and found that the original part number had been superseded several times and yes the new one was correct. Throughout the whole process, this was the best, most thorough technical support I have ever received. Ken, the tech has earned a bonus or a raise, or both. Thank you Ken! 

We replaced the Electronic Control Board and it’s working perfectly now! The instruction video was great but didn’t include info on programming the new board once it was in. We had to find that on YouTube, but it was easy to find. The entire fix was very simple. 

While out of town a tree fell in my yard and took out the power. When power was restored my refrigerator displayed the dreaded 8.8.8.8. I cleaned all the coils and fan and reset the refrigerator numerous times. The refrigerator would eventually start and run for several hours and then nothing. All signs pointed to the control needing to be replaced. I purchased a replacement Electronic Control Board from AppliancePartsPros.com received it quickly and was able to replace the control quite easily. Saved a lot of money by replacing the control and not the entire refrigerator. 

Well, it took 2 tries and 3 ordered parts (one returned) to complete the repair. Since the display was not working, and I learned of a processor behind the control board, I started there by ordering a new display with a control board. That had NO effect on the problem. My brother stopped by, and informed me that there was the main control board, and that would be the problem. In ordering the main control board, I accidentally ordered the box that the main control board "lives" in. I returned that and ordered the main control board. When the new control board was installed, I was able to re-program (easy with YouTube video) the board, and the refrigerator immediately came back to life. I only wish that there were some way to know WHICH control board is needed before ordering. The symptoms are the same for both! I advise trying the main board first if you have the symptoms. It is easier to install, and with more operating parts it is more likely to fail. 

A quick check online helped me diagnose the problem. I looked up the electric control board for my model and used the online chat feature on their website to confirm I had the correct part. It took less than 5 minutes to change the board. I needed to find the correct sequence for reprogramming my unit There were so many possibilities, but finally found the combination that worked. Broke down Tuesday Morning and was refilling my refrigerator by Friday. Not bad for a 60-year-old lady! 

After researching on the internet and speaking to the service rep I decided to order the high voltage control board. It took 2 days for the part to arrive, when I got home from work I decided to replace the part. Moved the refrigerator out and unplugged the power cord, removed the access panel, and removed the printed circuit board. Installed the replacement part and connected the wires. It took a couple of attempts to program the new control board, in a few moments I could hear the fans and compressor running, tested the dispenser operation, and all is good and operating. 

We have a Maytag MFI2569VEM2 refrigerator that started having problems a few months ago when we had a power outage. Once the power came back on, the fridge wouldn't turn back on. Pressing buttons on the control panel would cause all the lights on the panel to light up, the interior light worked, but it wouldn't come to life. Eventually after some time (maybe 15-20 minutes) the fridge would try to start, then shut back off. When it did this the lights on the control panel would come on and shut back off as well. It did this a number of times before finally starting up and it's been fine since. However, a few weeks ago, it started randomly shutting down and doing the same type of behavior. The panel lights would all go off, then come on again as it tried to start, then shut off. After a few cycles of that, it would come back on and work for a day or so, before doing it again. Once it turns on it's cooling fine and shows no other symptoms. After consulting the ApplianceBlog forums, we ordered this replacement HV control board (WPW10310240). We got the new board on Monday last week and installed it following the great video guide on AppliancePartsPros. I'm happy to report that after a week, the problem seems to be solved! We haven't noticed any of the behavior I outlined above. This repair saved us over $2000 (cost of a comparable model) and we're thrilled! 

After I found out it would take 2 weeks to get the part AND they kept trying to sell me a Home Warranty ("we can knock $150 off of your bill!") ~ which was now 700 something. I declined and when they left I ordered the part that night online from you. It was here 2 days later, no problems installing AND your site provided the instructions for coding the new board ~ after week and half with no fridge, it has been running great since Friday night! Thank you - will recommend your site to everyone!!!! 

Replaced the main control board. After doing some research found others with the same issue replaced the board and their issue was fixed. 

I ordered the electronic control board from AppliancePartsPros.com. I received the part in two days. It took 10 to 15 minutes to replace the part and the refrigerator was fixed. It was much easier than expected and I am very happy with the results. I will definitely use AppliancePartsPros.com for my next repair.
