How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022400 / WPW10503278 Refrigerator Electronic Control Board

Had repairmen out twice. They tried other things...happened again each time. Looked online for answers... read that the control board is the problem 99% of the time. Decided to give it a try. Replacement was easy on my refrigerator. So far, so good. Fingers crossed! 

A bit of research revealed the likely cause was a control board failure, which was no longer running the automatic defrost cycle. I ordered a replacement Electronic Control Board from AppliancePartsPros.com. It arrived quickly. The installation process took <10 minutes. Now the fridge works like it's supposed to. The installation instructions and programming instructions were clear and accurate. 

The AppliancePartsPros.com chat indicated board replacement. Purchased board. Same issue. Determined it was a crimped plus button for fridge temp Pushed ever so slightly on the control board increasing temp every couple of days. I used a cacti knife to cut out the flexible push button. Now ok. 

The fridge would intermittently turn off and then run fine, the digital number display was occasionally off entirely, at times was on, and other times the LED's chased around. Ultimately the fridge was not able to remain running long enough to properly cool. Replaced the Elec Control Board. 

Ran a diagnostic to rule out other parts. I ran forced defrost which worked. Replaced the Control Board in 10 minutes. The fridge is cold, everything normal now for over a week. 

I took a shot based on the symptoms and recommended solutions. We experienced a power outage and some surging I think may have been the cause of the failure. I installed a control board as per instructions, including rubber gloves to prevent static charge issues. This was 3/31/2023 and everything seems to be working fine, time will tell. Thanks Jeremy
