How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4098508 / 74007736 Surface Burner Head

I just bought new burner assembly. 2 screws and connected wire connector to ignitor. Had it working in less than a minute. spent less than $40:00. 

I tried to just replace the igniter, but the screws were too far gone and the igniter mounting screw broke off in the burner assembly. So, I just replaced everything. The screws for this burner are now torx vs phillips (which is probably better because the old heads stripped pretty easily), so I ordered them as well to make the job easier as well as prepare for the fact that I have to do something with this burner about every 3 years. Parts were received the next day and the repair took 5 minutes

What an easy fix. Found a start-shaped screwdriver bit, removed two screws, and replaced the burner. The igniter comes with the burner, so you just unplug the wire from the old burner and reattach to the new one. 5 minutes - no more matches to light this burner!
