How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7205486 / W11629974 Ice Level Control Board

Went on YouTube and got instructions for an easy fix. 

Did some online searching to diagnose the problem and confirmed with a local applicance service tech and determined that I needed an ice maker power control board kit. I like that ApplianceParts.com provides videos for installing specific parts. I've repaired several appliances using the videos and the parts I've purchased. 

A repair tech said something was wrong with the board, so I bought the replacement board I needed. A very simple removal of the old board and replacement of the new board. Took about 10-15 minutes. The dryer works great now and I saved about $300 doing it myself. 

Replaced the sensors with the Ice Level Power Control Board Kit for around $185. Shipping was fast, arrived the next day. But rather than being shipped from Cleveland, Tennessee, where AppliancePartsPros is located, was shipped from Marcone Appliance, which is about a mile and a half from my house. Regardless, the repair took about 20 minutes, and all is good. Very easy, and the video I looked at was well-done. Thanks! 

Ordered the sensor and control board. Unplugged the refrigerator, Unscrewed the old panels, unplugged the wire harness and plugged in the new one, and replaced the panel and screws. I also used black duct tape around the perimeter of the panel to keep water from entering. It would be great if the panel had a gasket on it. The job took all of 10 minutes and we had ice several hours later. 

There was information on the web that allowed me to determine that the optics boards in the freezer had failed (two blinks, separated by one-second intervals, no change when the push-in door was depressed). Basically, the icemaker thought that the bin was full when it wasn't. The video on how to change the circuit cards was very helpful. Followed the video, replaced the circuit cards, and the icemaker started making ice. Easy fix. The circuit cards sold on the AppliancePartsPros.com, Website are certified factory replacement parts. You can find cheaper Chinese knock-offs on the web, but the reviews indicate that they won't last long in service. Better to get the real thing that will last a long time. 

Replaced the ice level sensors which had ceased to work. 

I purchased the Ice Level Power Control Board Kit for my Maytag and it resolved my ice issue. Super easy to replace. Watched the video ahead of time. Took less than 15 minutes to fix. I now have ice. Definitely recommend this site for repair help.

I did the initial recommendation of unplugging the refrigerator for a short bit and replugging to get the ice maker to make ice. Worked like a champ for a couple months. Finally that no longer worked. So I priced a replacement refrigerator (ack) and then ... I watched this video from AppliancePartsPros.com a couple of times (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-cntrl-elec-w10757851-ap5956767.html#videol), bought the 2 circuit boards recommended, and installed them. Took maybe 5 minutes to replace the old boards. The refrigerator has been making ice ever since. Many thanks and best, Jim
