Initial thoughts were a clogged drain, or failed drain motor. Disassembling the lower impeller assembly and checking the lines all the way through to the garbage disposal proved that wasn't the problem. In the process I found the tech sheet behind the kick panel (and a slow leak in the supply line, but that's a different story) which showed the key combination for putting the washer in test mode. Used that to prove the drain motor was working fine.
With all of the mechanical possibilities eliminated, was left with the chance that it was a failing relay on the control board. Eight screws, three nuts later and all was back together. Customer is very happy!
Threw in a couple of tine clips which had broken over the years, and she was even more pleased!
