How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010142 / WP628356 Ice Maker Fill Cup And Bearing Assembly

After ordering the part that I needed from AppliancePartsPros.com, I watched their easy how-to video on part replacement. The next day, after part arrival I replaced "Fill Cup & Bearing Assembly". 

I found the part I needed at Appliance Parts Pros as opposed to other sites that only listed a complete ice maker. The support for the ice maker stop arm had broken. This is part of the fill cup assembly. I followed the very helpful video which not only showed how to accomplish the repair, it also confirmed that I was ordering the correct part.The entire repair took less then 15 minutes. 

Disconnected and removed the ice maker following the step-by-step instructions found in the video 

The ice maker would make ice, but somehow it would occasionally leak. I considered replacing the whole unit but since the ice mold was full of hard water residue and it originally was a used unit, I thought I'd replace the ice mold. I did drop the unit taking it out so I also needed the fill cup as it broke. Repair went smoothly although I wasn't sure it worked until the next day when the ice was successfully made. 

I replaced the fill cup and now have ice! Yahoo! 

Installed new ice maker following the repair video on the web site. Extremely easy. Shipped fast also. 

First, I called our local fix it shop with a precise description of the issue. They said it would likely require a replacement of the entire icemaker for approx. $100 plus labor charges of $250. With charges like that I Google'd the fridge/freezer unit & found this site. Looked at the schematics & could immediately see what part was needed (Fill Cup & Bearing Assembly). I could also see this site provided a video link on replacing the part. Watched it (less than 7 min if you whiz past the extra promo stuff). Looked easy! Ordered the part ... $14. It arrived NEXT DAY. Followed the video instructions & had the thing repaired in less than 15 minutes ... counting hunting down screwdrivers in the toolbox. $350 vs. $14. NO CONTEST! Ordered new fill cup and replaced. Watched the video you provided step by step we would have never figured it out without the video thank you so much.
