How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016813 / WPW10196393 Damper Control Assembly

Replaced the damper control assembly. 

I watched some YouTube videos, then determined that the compressor and the fans were working. That left possibly the thermostat or the damper motor as my culprits. Since the freezer was working, the damper motor was first in line. I watched a video here on removing the damper cover and found that by propping the damper open ever so slightly, the refrigerator cooled. I ordered the part, snapped it in, and everything is working perfectly. 

Thankful, looked up remedies & was able to quickly order part from appliance parts pros and fix myself guided by helpful video from appliance parts pros! 

Replaced the air damper control for a freezer on the bottom frig 

Replacing the damper control was one of the easiest repairs I have ever done!! 

Well I tried to use a hair dryer to loosen an ice blockage. With that I damaged the control in the fridge. I bought a new control, it was shipped same day and I received it the next day. It was a quick disconnect and reconnect. Done in just a few minutes. Fridge is working again and the wife is happy. 

I replaced the damper control motor. 

Food in the refrigerator was freezing. Watched the videos about damper controls and how to install. Ordered part and installed myself.All is working great! 

Refrigerator with ice maker in French door section; inconsistent in temp control. Old damper module was heard cycling repeatedly then seized up. Freezer section frosted over when door was left ajar after top refrigerator had issues. New damper module arrived in two days & was installed, but still no air flow. Module was found in OPEN position, fan was running. ShopVac in suck config pulled no cold air from freezer section thru cold air transfer tube. ShopVac in BLOW config then applied to cold air transfer tube from freezer section until air felt at freezer, tube finally clear. Retested, air flow felt at refrigerator damper port. Normal operation after that point. 

Replaced damper control assembly. Remove two Phillips screws securing air grille at upper back of refrigerator compartment. Pull air grille and Styrofoam out. Damper control assembly is then held in place by two plastic tabs. Release the tabs to remove and replace the damper control assembly. Reconnecting wiring harness, and then replace the Styrofoam and air grille, using the two Phillips screws.
