How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094183 / 279570 Door Latch Kit

Called and talked with a representative and she helped determine the right part number and arranged to ship. 

Replaced Door Latches with a Door Latch Kit from Appliance Parts Pros ($6.42). There was also a helpful video on the Appliance Parts Pros website that made changing the parts easy. Total time to repair was 10 minutes. 

Pushed a new latch into the hole. Done 

It went good. 

Look up the model number and placed the order for the replacement part. It arrived super fast! I completed the job in less than five minutes. I saved big money by doing it myself. It would have cost me at $65 for a repair person just to show up. 

A simple $5.00 part from Appliance Parts Pros, quick delivery and a somewhat handy husband had the problem fixed within a few minutes! I was in no shape to purchase a new dryer. THANKS! 

Installed a new latch on the door side. 

I ordered the latch kit after watching the video. As stated, it comes with three replacement female parts. There was nothing on my dryer to match them. I read here that if no number could be found, the most likely fit was the gold one. So far, all's good 

Ordered a door latch repair kit from AppliancePartsPros.com and that fixed the problem. The repair was easy because of the video provided with my order. 

At first, my wife wedged the door closed with a piece of folded cardboard jammed into the bottom. Then ordered the door latch part kit, it took almost 2 weeks to arrive, and then installation was relatively easy, although not as painless as amateur videos online would indicate. For example, the videos made it look like the whole assembly needed to be squeezed, where it's actually two small ears. Directions would be nice, each catch has a number that needs to match the original. My eyes aren't great so I didn't notice the numbers at first and might have tried to put the wrong one in.
