Put in a heating element 

I got an electrical schematic online and saw that the drum light would not operate if the thermal fuse was open. 

Located a company that sold this particular part. due to the age of the dryer this was difficult to locate. We replaced it and the dryer works great now! 

We installed a new heating element. The tough part was removing and reseating the long screw holding the element in place because the dryer siteis such close quarters that the top panel couldn't go completely vertical. Everything else was easy. We had already replaced the thermal fuse the previous week, so the one that came with the new heating element has been stowed away as a spare. After popping our dryer lid and checking our dryer vent for clogs or build-up, my husband assessed which electrical component was no longer working using a voltmeter. Ordered the part here with 2-day delivery, and installed the replacement part in about 5 minutes. 

Easy DIY project. I was hesitant to purchase, not 100% knowing it would correct my issue but Im glad I did. I now have a perfectly functioning dryer that doesnt take an hour or more to dry a load. The repair was very easy. Two "push" clips to raise the top up and five individual 5/16s nuts to remove both components. Everything was visible and easy to access. Less than fifteen minutes to complete the job!! If youre scared, dont be.
