How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4242491 / LA-1008 Dryer Rear Roller Kit

I took the Dryers apart used the genuine Maytag repair parts I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros and in less than an hour my Dryer was fixed! 

I replaced all of the running parts that where warn-out and the dryer sounds and runs like new again. Thank You, S. Roman 

Followed the video and it worked out well. 

Replaced wheels and pins. Super easy! 

Upon disassembly, I found that the center hub of the blower fan had broken off, decided to pull the drum out and check the rear rollers and found that they had flat spots on them. So I ordered new rollers, Blower fan, front Teflon and felt kit's and a new belt (Figured I might as well since I have it apart) Ordered Friday Morning and received Saturday afternoon. Super fast shipping and they were the right parts. 

I watched one of the repair videos then decided to order the rear roller kit and idler assembly kit. After receiving parts (which shipped really fast), I knew exactly how to open up the unit and remove the drum and remove the worn parts. I recommend to watch the video before starting job, saved me lots of time. I had even made this same repair in 2004 but didn't remember all of the steps. Completed the project in about 40 min. Another note: Have a shop vac handy to clean out the lent and dust build up from years of use. Lent build-up slows the drying time and is also a fire hazard. Now my wife is happy and I don't have to listen to the squeaking. Runs like a new dryer. 

Replaced front drum glides and rear rollers. Works great now. The repair cost was under $80. The equivalent gas dryer replacement cost would have been around $700. Saved a lot of money! 

After looking at some trouble-shooting tips on the internet, we determined that our roller bearings were going out. I watched the video on the AppliancePartsPros site, and thought it was a repair I could do. It only took two days for the parts to arrive. I commenced the repair, and everything went exactly as the technician in the video described. It was tricky where he said it would be, and the tip about pre-drilling the machine screws into the roller bases helped immensely. The only difference between the video repair and our dryer was that ours was coated on the inside with 1/2" of lint! (The dryer came with the house when we bought it last year, and it's at least seven years old.) I think I spent more time cleaning the lint accumulation than I did replacing the rollers. Doing this repair myself saved me at least $100, and maybe closer to $200. The video prepared me for the job so well that I didn't have to refer back to it or the instructions as I worked.
