How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6030923 / W10823693 Surface Element (Cooktop Burner)

Replaced with new element 

I could not find the correct part on any website even on Jenn-air site. Did the live chat with a sales rep on a Saturday afternoon and we found the correct part and had it ordered in less than 10 minutes. Will definitely be using this site again. 

The biggest concern I had was that the new element had 4 prongs instead of the 2 which was on my old one. After talking with Customer Service they gave me a pretty good idea of which contacts I needed to set up with the old element wire leads. I ended up attaching to the larger 2 prongs which were on the left side. The repair was a success and was very easy. Kudos to Customer Service because they assisted me on the phone for over 25 minutes making sure I had the correct part and attaching it correctly. The element I replaced was the 8" one. 

Replaced the element inside the unit. Neessary to remove glass top to do so. With help provided by this company this was something a 10 year old could do. Especially since the updated element wiring was slightly different from the original. 

Easy replacement of element. Good directions. Fix took less than 10 minutes. Works great! 

The element replacement was changed by the manufacturer some time ago so that the limiter has 4 terminals instead of 2 like the original for my 2 connecting wires. I had no idea which terminals to use since I couldn't just copy the wiring on the original. Your agent Shawn Nichols was very courteous and helpful. He emailed the original appliance wiring diagram to me and consulted with your tech people and got the right answer for me. That made installation an easy 15 minute procedure. Needless to say, it's working perfectly. Also, I had ordered the part on a Sunday morning and received it Tuesday morning with regular ground shipping. Thanks Shawn. You guys are great! 

Bought it from AppliancePartsPros.com and although the connectors looked a little different than the JennAir, it was labeled clearly as 1a and 2a. It also comes with instructions and wire extenders if needed (I did not). A simple swap out old, replace with new, being confident, I reassembled the glass top and what do you know... it worked. 

Replaced bad burner. 

Replaced the burner assembly. 

Replaced burner element.
