How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008281 / WP3387747 Dryer Heating Element

Ordered a new heating element and replaced it myself. 

It was a pretty easy process.(Thanks YouTube!) I replaced the old burned out element and installed the new one. The biggest challenge was working in a confined space with big hands. 

I checked the resistance on the heating coil. Confirmed it was bad. Purchased new unit from Appliance Parts Pros installed in about 5 minutes

I use the YouTube video and replace the heating coil. 

Ex husband fixed it. He used the service guide and wiring diagram inside the dryer panel. Moving stuff out of the way took longer than diagnosing the fault. Dryer vent to the outside was also clogged. Had to replace it as well.

I didn’t want to tear my dryer apart and do the diagnostics first, so I purchased both parts that go bad most often. with my dryer being over 10 years old, I figured they could both easily be almost worn out, so I replaced them both. It was definitely the heating element. I saved over $800 over a new model! While I had it apart I cleaned all the dust out, cleaned the ducting.
