How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008281 / WP3387747 Dryer Heating Element

I purchased a new heating element. Very easy to fix in about twenty minutes 

I am a 47-year-old mother of four. With our budget being tight having to put two kids through college I decided to try to fix it myself. I ordered the part online which was a new heating coil I watched the videos on how to change it from the front of the dryer and it was easy. I had it changed and working in about 45 minutes start to finish now we have a nice warm dryer. Thank you for having your videos available to us with follow along instructions. I replaced the heating element. I also thoroughly cleaned the inside of the dryer, because a lot of lint had built up. There repair and cleaning took me a few hours, most of the time spent on cleaning, then putting it back together. 

Figured it was either the heater element or the heat sensors. Tested with a multi-meter and found it was the heater element broken. The whole thing is exposed after I removed the bottom panel from the front of the dryer (2 screws at the bottom of the panel). The heater element is on the right side of the dryer. It can be removed by removing a total of 3 screws, 2 electrical wires, then pull the heater element itself straight out. There are some very helpful YouTube video, watch them to build your confident. Just remember to do it the easy way - from the front of the dryer. The part I ordered from appliancepartspros was exactly matched the original part and it was delivered very fast. 

Simple repair once you figure out that this drier needs to be accessed from the front. Replaced fuses and thermostats 1st, but it turned out to be the heating element. So it's best to order everything up front and return what you don't need. Make sure your label the 6 cables to plug them back in correctly. 

Returning from vacation my wife washed clothes and put the wet ones in the dryer. She then said: "The clothes are not getting dry." I first thought the vent might be plugged up, not letting air circulate. Upon investigating I discovered the heating element to be burn't into. The fix was easy, I bought a long needed multimeter. I removed the bottom cover, located the dryer heating element. I disconnected the two wires and one nut and pull the element out with a pliers and that was it. Same way I removed it was the same way I installed it.
